The High Cost of Overconsumption in Pakistan
From plastic bags to fast fashion, single-use cutlery to endless gadget upgrades — we’re consuming more than ever, often without even realizing it. This lecture takes a critical look at Pakistan’s growing culture of overconsumption and the unconscious habits driving it.
We’ll explore three key areas:
- What overconsumption looks like in a developing country like Pakistan
- The systemic failure of waste management
- The impacts on lives, livelihoods, and the environment
Finally, we’ll look at how individuals, communities, and institutions can reframe their approach — shifting from a mindset of disposability to one of responsibility — and reimagining what a sustainable, resource-conscious future could look like.
