Integrating diversity in education means moving beyond mere tolerance to true coexistence.

Tolerance implies reluctant acceptance of what is seen as “other,” leaving power and prejudice untouched. Coexistence, by contrast, values every background, thought and identity as essential to learning. It calls for confronting stereotypes and biases through conscious, reflective action.

When diversity is truly embraced, classrooms become spaces of shared respect and belonging, where difference strengthens community and prepares citizens for an interconnected world. This is the essence of genuine inclusion.
