Misuse of Blasphemy Laws in Pakistan
Blasphemy laws occupy an extremely sensitive and serious place in Pakistan’s legal framework. While these laws exist to protect religious sentiments, there have been documented instances where false accusations and procedural misuse have led to grave human, legal and social consequences.
This session brings together lawyers who have represented victims of such allegations to discuss the issue strictly from a legal and judicial perspective. The conversation will focus on how misuse occurs, the challenges faced by the accused and their families, and the difficulties lawyers encounter while seeking justice within the existing legal system.
