Lecture Series on Astronomy & Astrophysics (1)
Astronomy and astrophysics invite us to explore the universe not just as a collection of distant objects, but as a coherent physical system governed by fundamental laws. This free weekly lecture series offers a structured and accessible introduction to the science behind the cosmos.
While the lectures are open to everyone with curiosity about the universe, the series is especially recommended for university and college students, particularly those with a background in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or other Sciences.
The sessions will combine:
- Introductory mathematical reasoning to build intuition
- Physical interpretation of astronomical and astrophysical phenomena
- Conceptual connections between physics and the structure and evolution of the universe
Over the course of the series, concepts will be developed gradually, covering topics such as:
- Foundations of Astronomy and Astrophysics
- The Life Cycle of Stars
- Stellar Astrophysics
- Galaxies and other Astrophysical Objects
Designed to encourage careful thinking rather than rote learning, the series aims to strengthen conceptual understanding while inspiring deeper engagement with modern astrophysics.
Whether you are a student seeking clarity beyond textbooks or a learner drawn by wonder and reason, this lecture series offers a guided pathway into the science of the universe.
About the Instructor:
Dr. Saeeda Sajjad is an astrophysicist whose work focuses on gamma-ray bursts and high energy observations. She holds a PhD from the University of Montpellier France and has many years of working as an academic. She was also the founding director of the Space and Astrophysics Research Lab, a platform dedicated to developing the field of astronomy and astrophysics in Pakistan, under the National Center for GIS and Space Applications. Currently, she is collaborating with scientists abroad on research with astrophysical data using machine learning techniques.
This session is free and open to all. Just visit the venue to attend it.
