Lahore is often celebrated for its Mughal grandeur and colonial architecture, but the city we inhabit today is also the result of visionaries, planners, architects, educators, entrepreneurs and public leaders who shaped its modern identity.

This session explores the individuals and institutions that transformed Lahore in the 20th and 21st centuries – from urban planning and infrastructure to cultural revival, education, literature and civic life.

About the Speaker:

Parvez Mahmood is a retired Group Captain from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). He then pursued his passion for computer science, earning an MCS and an MS in software. A lifelong student of the Islamic Golden Age and Medieval Indian history, he has dedicated himself to exploring the richness of the past.

Moreover, he has been a prolific columnist for The Friday Times, with nearly 200 insightful pieces covering history, music, poetry, travelogues, obituaries, book reviews and more. His latest series is an in-depth ten-part discourse on Lahore and its environs.

This session is free and open to all. Just visit the venue to attend it.
