Gilgit-Baltistan Decides: Democracy, Identity and the 2026 Elections

As Gilgit-Baltistan approaches elections on June 7, the region once again stands at the center of important questions about democracy, representation and identity in Pakistan. While political parties intensify their campaigns, the elections also highlight deeper issues including constitutional ambiguity, governance, youth participation, media narratives and the evolving relationship between Gilgit-Baltistan and the federation.
