When the Earth Burns, Who Pays the Price? The Gendered Face of the Climate Crisis

When the Earth Burns, Who Pays the Price? The Gendered Face of the Climate Crisis

26 26 people viewed this event.

Climate change is often discussed in terms of rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation. Yet behind these headlines lies another, less visible crisis: the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and girls. As communities face floods, droughts, heatwaves, displacement, and resource scarcity, existing social inequalities often deepen, increasing the risks of gender-based violence, exploitation, child marriage, loss of livelihoods, and barriers to education and healthcare.

Moving beyond statistics, the session will feature readings of original short stories by five fiction writers, bringing to life the human experiences that numbers alone cannot fully capture. Through literature, the discussion seeks to illuminate the emotional realities of those living on the frontlines of the climate crisis, reminding us that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story.
