
The Matrix and Perception Management
This talk engages with the construction of reality in the contemporary world and uses The Matrix (1999) as an example to elaborate the idea of perception management through control over reality.
About the speaker
Zulfqar Hyder holds a doctorate degree in English Literature from University of Aberdeen and an Master’s degree from University of Sussex. He has taught at universities in Pakistan, the Middle East, and North America. Currently, he is a tenured Assistant pPofessor of modernist and postmodernist literature at University College of the North in Canada. His research interests include the relationship between modernism, post colonialism, and emergence of religious extremism. He also studies the encounter between European colonialism and native communities and its impact on identity formation. He has reviewed books for Journal of British Studies and Journal of Postcolonial Writing. His research has been published by journals like the quint.
