From Mind to Brain: Bridging the Gap in Understanding Consciousness
In his groundbreaking book, “The Hidden Spring: A Journey to the Source of Consciousness,” Dr. Mark Solms merges the cutting-edge discoveries of neuroscience with the profound insights of psychoanalysis. This unique integration allows us to gain a comprehensive understanding of consciousness by examining it from both scientific and experiential perspectives.
In this session, we delve into the latest research from various disciplines that help us describe what consciousness is, why does it exist, where does it arise from and how does it function. We will briefly cover the insights that psychoanalysis provides generally as testable hypotheses and a theory to guide our investigations and then how the methods of neuroscience are making it possible to empirically verify these insights.
