Book Launch: Tarar’s Fragile Times

Mustansar Hussain Tarar, throughout his creative oeuvre, has captured not only the cultural and geographical beauty of Pakistan but also its socio-political inequalities, ideological contradictions, and the agonies and ecstasies of its masses. Versatility is the distinctive feature of Tarar’s genius: he has made significant contributions to numerous genres: literature, cultural criticism, TV hosting, acting, journalism, and travel writings. Despite this impressive portfolio, the available critical scholarship on his work in Urdu even is mostly based on impressionistic opinions, devoid of any systematic epistemological framework. Tarar is a writer who seems to have his fingers on the global pulse. Writing in the age of many global risks that the world is facing now, his work can be located and interpreted with a sense of critical globally.

About the Writer:

Muhammad Safeer Awan, a Ph.D. in Postcolonial Studies, is a veteran professor of English. He has been teaching and writing about Global Anglophone Literature and critical theory for around three decades. He has established himself as an accomplished cultural critic who is equally awake to the demands of the word and the world. Currently, he is leading the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the National University of Modern Languages. Islamabad. His intellectual contributions have been instrumental in changing the course of Arts and Humanities in Pakistan. In this book, he has turned his critical attention to one of the most prolific and renowned writers of Pakistan, Mustansar Hussain Tarar, in order to bring his work into the global critical limelight.
