Join us for a critical examination of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973. Explore its paradoxes and the challenges it poses to democratic governance. From electoral fairness to governmental stability, let’s discuss the complexities and propose pathways for reform.

Discussants:

  • Ahsan Chaudhary is a PhD student in Political Science at Louisiana State University where his research focuses on constitutional foundations of authoritarianism and political violence. Before moving to LSU, he earned masters’ degrees in International Relations and Law at Universities in England and Pakistan respectively. Besides PhD work, he spends time on theory of world constitution that aims to strengthen democracy globally. He has presented research at conferences in universities and professional associations across the Atlantic Ocean.
  • Having previously worked at NUST, Dilawar Hussain is presently serving as visiting faculty at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, where he teaches courses on constitutional and parliamentary history of Pakistan. He has worked as a research fellow at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh, Scotland. His areas of specialization include parliamentary, political, constitutional and electoral history of Pakistan.
