Is Man a Machine?
That man is a machine was argued by the French philosopher Rene Descartes in the mid 1600’s and made popular by others during the Enlightenment period. Today some prosthetic devices are available such as artificial hearts and eyes, ear implants, and artificial limbs. What is available today and how far can it go? This lecture will be aimed at the hearing disabled but all are welcome.
This lecture is part of “Beyond Possibilities: Empowering Deaf Youth with Limitless Success,” a program by Neef and EdDeaf, dedicated to expanding educational and professional opportunities for deaf graduates in Pakistan.
About the Initiative:
The “Beyond Possibilities” program by Neef and EdDeaf in Pakistan is an initiative aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for marginalized communities. It focuses on providing access to quality education, promoting inclusivity, and empowering individuals to overcome socio-economic barriers. Through this program, we seek to create pathways for personal and community development, fostering a more equitable society.
The first batch of this fellowship is currently underway with 20 deaf graduates joining from all over Pakistan. The graduates are going through various hard and soft skills training. They are houses at NUST for three weeks for the duration of fellowship.
Dr. Zunaira Saqib and Ms. Ayesha Raza are leading the project.
This session is free and open to all. Just visit the venue to attend it.
