About the Speaker:
S. Abbas Raza took his first course in AI in 1984 at Johns Hopkins University where the early connectionist pioneer Terry Sejnowski, who is now considered a “Godfather” of AI was teaching. Raza holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Johns Hopkins, as well as graduate degrees in Philosophy of Mind and Language from Columbia University. He has worked as a software engineer, as well as a consultant to companies like Nokia, and he also founded the highly acclaimed website and online magazine 3 Quarks Daily in 2004. He follows developments in AI carefully and with great interest. He lives with his wife in a small alpine town on the border of Italy and Austria.
