Bacha Khan and the Lost Art of Nonviolence
In an age where violence shapes headlines and societies, the philosophy of nonviolence feels like a forgotten art. Yet, not too far from our own lands, a towering figure, Bacha Khan, stood as a living testament to the power of peace, dignity and resistance without hatred. He challenged colonial might not with weapons, but with courage, conviction and a smile.
In this session, we’ll rediscover the transformative potential of nonviolence. As the world faces unprecedented military threats and environmental crises, can the wisdom of nonviolence offer us a path forward? Join us for a conversation that revisits a legacy buried under the noise of war, but one that might hold the key to our collective survival.
About the Speaker:
Zain Haq is an activist and advocate of classical nonviolence who has led multiple civil disobedience and hunger strike campaigns in Canada to demand urgent action against fossil fuels. Despite gaining public support, his activism led to his deportation, a price he willingly paid for his cause. Zain has delivered hundreds of public talks on the philosophy and history of nonviolence, believing that in a world shadowed by violence and climate collapse, revisiting these timeless values is essential for building meaningful and resilient movements.
