Breaking the Chains of Thought: Why Student Unions are Needed
On 9th of February in 1984, Gen. Zia-ul-Haq imposed a ban on student unions in all colleges throughout the country. It happened so long ago that nearly two-thirds of this country’s young population is not even aware of it. Academics seek lifting of ban on political activities in educational institutions.
In this session of Baat se Baat, it will be discussed how banning the student unions has affected the society, what were its motives and why student unions are needed.
