Documentary Screening: Gaza Fights For Freedom (followed by Poetry Of Resistance)
Join us for screening of the documentary “Gaza Fights For Freedom” by Empire Files, which explores the history of the occupation and most importantly the plight of people in Gaza today and on ground reporting of the conditions they live under. Unlike other coverage we tend to watch, which depicts only the suffering, this documentary also highlights the struggles against oppression of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian literary tradition has some of the most powerful stories and poetry with themes that capture the pain of dispossession, exile, love, struggle and hope. Many revolutionary poets from all over the world also dedicated deeply moving verses to this cause and we will share aloud some of these writings, as our hearts go out to those who continue to persist through the worst results of contemporary colonialism and state violence.
