What happens when two particles become so deeply connected that a change in one instantly affects the other, even across vast distances? Can information truly disappear inside a black hole? Is teleportation merely a science-fiction fantasy, or has modern physics already brought it into the realm of reality? And how might the strange principles of quantum mechanics transform the future of computation, communication, and our understanding of the universe itself?

This lecture will explore some of the most profound and fascinating ideas in contemporary physics, from the mysteries of black holes and Stephen Hawking’s famous information paradox to the strange phenomenon of quantum entanglement and the revolutionary promise of quantum computing. Along the way, the discussion will examine how seemingly abstract ideas about space, time, matter, and information have reshaped our understanding of the cosmos.

The session will be delivered by Dr. Pervez Hoodbhoy, renowned physicist, educator, and public intellectual, in collaboration with Jocelyn’s Pulsar, a student-led initiative dedicated to connecting young people from around the world with researchers working at the frontiers of physics and astronomy.

This session is free and open to all. Just visit the venue to attend it.
