From Words to Worlds: A Dialogue on the Art of Translation
Translation is more than just converting words from one language into another – it is the art of carrying ideas, cultures and worldviews across linguistic boundaries. It allows literature, philosophy and knowledge to travel beyond their place of origin, creating bridges of understanding between people and societies. Yet, translation also raises profound questions: What is lost and what is gained in the process? How does the translator balance fidelity to the text with accessibility for the reader?
In this session, we engage in a dialogue with Dr. Ghulam Ali, Head of the Department of Translation at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Dr. Qasim Yaqoob, Assistant Professor of the Department of Urdu, AIOU. Drawing on academic expertise and lived experience, the conversation will explore translation not just as a technical skill but as a creative and cultural act, one that shapes worlds by reimagining words.
This session is free and open to all. Just visit the venue to attend it.
