If you are a student, do you want guidance for choosing a bachelor’s or master’s thesis topic? Want tips for increasing your chances of success when applying to an American university? Know what fields of study and research are currently the most exciting?

TBH is proud to announce its exploratory mentorship program. Top achieving Pakistani students currently studying at US universities, as well as post-doctoral fellows, have volunteered to help students in Pakistan who are serious about achieving professional goals.

You are invited to the second session on 4th June (Tuesday, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm, Pakistani time) in which students/post-docs at various universities will speak about their respective fields of study and experiences. You may ask questions then and, if the match is suitable, you will be put in direct contact with a mentor after the session.

  • Bilal Azam

    PhD Candidate in Physics
    Illinois Institute of Technology
    , Chicago

He holds a Master’s degree in Physics from LUMS, where he specialized in causal set cosmology. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Physics at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. Bilal is actively involved in the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), working in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab. His research focuses on data analysis, machine learning, and high-performance computing, particularly related to the Near Detector prototype (aka 2×2).

  • Fasi Malik

    PhD Candidate in Physics
    University of California, Riverside

He earned his master’s degree in Physics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. After teaching for a couple of years, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to pursue a PhD in Condensed Matter Theory at the University of California, Riverside. His research focuses on topological phases in 2D materials. Fasi is deeply passionate about the education of fundamental sciences and their effective teaching. One of his future goals is to create a platform offering advanced courses in mathematical sciences to young students in Urdu, making higher education more accessible.

  • Muhammad Ali Shahbaz

    PhD Candidate in Physics,
    University of Nevada Reno, USA

He is currently pursuing his PhD in AMO (Atomic, Molecular, and Optical) experiments, specifically working on an experiment that aims to realize the single atom as a quantum sensor using the matrix isolation technique. He holds two Master’s degrees in Physics: one from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, where his research under Dr. Mansur focused on Cosmology, and another from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he worked on Condensed Matter Theory.

In addition to his research, Ali is passionate about science communication. He writes Urdu articles on scientific topics and delivers online lectures on Physics through the group “Conceptual Physics.” Also, he played his role in founding and organizing the Dr. Riazuddin Memorial School on Physics in collaboration with the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
