Homeopathy: Science or Illusion
Homeopathy, as an alternative system of medicine, was put forward by the German physician, Samuel Hahnemann, in 1796. Gradually, it proliferated all over the world, including many countries in Europe and the United States. Thousands of practitioners use Homeopathic medicine to treat various diseases in Pakistan as well. Currently, there are about 140 medical colleges dedicated to the teaching of Homeopathy in Pakistan.
Different people have different experiences with Homeopathy. Some vouch for its effectiveness while others are skeptical. In this session, we have Dr. Javed Akhtar, Member National Council for Homoeopathy and former Chairman of Professional Development Program of Homoeopathy, Gov. of Pakistan, to enlighten us with this method of treatment and discuss some of its technical aspects with Mr. Ali Warisuzzaman whose major interest is in the biological and medical sciences.
It is hoped that this discussion would give an understanding of the subject matter to our audience along with an opportunity to clarify any confusion surrounding this kind of treatment.
