Hundred Years of Uncertainty: Beyond “Shut Up and Calculate”
2025 marks the International Year of Quantum Science, a moment to reflect on a hundred years since quantum theory unsettled our most basic ideas about reality. From Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle to the conceptual puzzles that still challenge physicists and philosophers alike, this session revisits the turning point where certainty gave way to probability.
Rather than focusing on mathematical formalism, the discussion will approach quantum ideas through logic, intuition and careful reasoning, making space for those without a technical background. Matrix mechanics will be introduced in simple Urdu, followed by a broader conversation on what quantum theory tells us – and does not tell us – about knowledge, measurement and reality.
Bringing together perspectives from physics and philosophy, the session invites participants to think critically about science not just as a set of equations, but as a human effort shaped by questions, limits and interpretation.
