Jaun Elia: Eham She’ri Jihaat tak Risaa’i
Despite the fact that he did not get the recognition he deserved in his lifetime, posthumously, Jaun Elia has emerged as one of the most celebrated Urdu poets of 21st C. His poetry is frequently shared on social media platforms. The flip side of this fame is that he is often misquoted and misinterpreted and the philosophical and subtle aspects of his poetry are often overlooked. Instead, it has gained a superficial cult status that is not in keeping with the true worth of his art. In this talk, Jaun’s poetry is looked at from some other angles to highlight its multiplicity and richness.
