Main Kaun: Theatre of the Oppressed

Main Kaun: Theatre of the Oppressed

282 282 people viewed this event.

Main Kaun is a powerful storytelling performance by Bilal Khalid’s Lok Manch Collective, a progressive Islamabad-based theater group that believes in the power of art as a mirror to society. Weaving together narratives of joy, resistance and the longing for freedom, the play reflects the struggles and dreams of those who dare to ask difficult questions: Who am I? Who are we?

Rooted in the tradition of Theatre of the Oppressed, Main Kaun speaks to the lived realities of creative artists in Pakistan – their economic hardships, shrinking spaces for performance and the hostility they face from society and structures of power. Through bold expression and collective reflection, the performance seeks to break silences, inspire dialogue and imagine a world where art becomes a force for social reform and human dignity.
