About the Guest Speaker:
- Sartaj Khan is a Marxist writer and researcher. As a student, he was active in both nationalist and left-wing politics. After completing his studies at the University of Karachi, he joined an NGO as a researcher. As a Marxist activist, he also edited the Urdu magazine Socialist for more than ten years. He is a regular contributor to newspapers, magazines, and websites, with his opinions and commentary appearing in both national and international media.
About the Discussants:
- Abdul Hadi Mayar is a seasoned journalist based in Islamabad, currently serving as Diplomatic Correspondent for the Pakistan Observer. His illustrious career spans roles at Pakistan Times, Radio Pakistan, and Hum Pashto1. Mayar is also a poet, short story writer, and critic who advocates for a vibrant, organized society and opposes class discrimination.
- Dr. Riaz Ahmed is a associate professor at the applied chemistry department university of Karachi. He hold a PhD degree in chemical engineering from university of Cambridge UK and completed postdoc from South Korea. As marxist he’s also active in teachers struggles movement s, human rights and democratic rights movements. He elected to teachers association & various bodies of Karachi & Urdu university.
- The session will be moderated by Dr. Ravish Nadeem, an educator, author, literary critic and poet.
