Rethinking Curriculum for Sustainable Development
Pakistan is rich in many ways such as art, craft, culture, natural resources, agriculture and local industry as well as diverse communities and lands and climate and what not. Education since 1950s is being planned around the world in such a way that it provides incubation for development of any country. 1960s and 1970s education policies showed similar intentions but later the education was used as a platform of specific ideological and political propaganda and indoctrination. We were unable to achieve development goals and year 2000 onward we could not achieve the goals of education itself yet. MDGs and SDGs were to be achieved through integrated planning but we lack it completely when it comes to educational planning for development. In this session Dr. Afshan Huma will share some key changes to be inculcated in the curriculum at elementary secondary and higher education before its too late.
