The Mind–Body Puzzle: Exploring the Mystery of Consciousness
What is consciousness? How does the physical brain give rise to thoughts, feelings and subjective experience? For centuries, philosophers and scientists alike have grappled with what is often called the mind–body problem, the enduring puzzle of how mental life relates to the material world.
This session explores one of the deepest questions in both philosophy and science: how the mind emerges from the brain. Drawing on insights from philosophy, neuroscience and cognitive science, the discussion will examine different perspectives on consciousness, from classical philosophical debates to contemporary scientific theories about the nature of awareness.
About the Speaker:
Mr. Iqbal is a retired civil servant with intellectual passion for Philosophy, History, Social Sciences and Political Economy. With years of experience in public service, he brings a keen analytical perspective to historical and contemporary socio-political issues.
