The Nature of Shadow: Breaking Free from What Holds Us Back

The Nature of Shadow: Breaking Free from What Holds Us Back

First introduced by Carl Jung in his 1912 work Psychology of the Unconscious, the Shadow represents the parts of ourselves we deny, suppress or remain unaware of – often traits we consider negative or undesirable. But these hidden dimensions of the psyche are not just obstacles; they hold the key to personal growth and transformation.

In today’s world of individual crises and collective challenges, the Shadow looms larger than ever. How does our Shadow quietly shape our choices and block our progress? What changes become possible when we face, accept, and integrate it? And how might the concept of the Shadow offer insights into addressing not only personal struggles but also wider societal issues in contexts like Pakistan?

Join us for a thought-provoking conversation with Stefan Hermann, a lifelong practitioner of Shadow Work with nearly four decades of global experience, as we explore how understanding the Shadow can help us move beyond self-sabotage and unlock paths to meaningful change.

About the Guest Speaker:

Stefan Hermann is a social entrepreneur, futurist, and master facilitator of Shadow Work with nearly four decades of international experience. A gifted teacher and youth mentor, he serves as guest docent at the University for Social Pedagogy in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is also the founder of GenDerations, a global initiative that has guided thousands of young men and women through their initiation into adulthood.

Before dedicating himself to social engagement, Stefan was a world-ranked professional tennis player — once among the top 100 — with wins over several top 30 players, including the young Boris Becker. He went on to become a successful businessman, published author of Future Design, and business coach for Fortune 500 companies such as Siemens AG, Höchst AG, and Eli Lilly, working across the United States, Scandinavia, Southeast Asia, and Europe.
