Why do so many of us carry a quiet ache of not being “good enough”? This talk explores how childhood attachment wounds, cultural expectations, perfectionism and parental pressure contribute to deep emotional struggles — often hidden beneath high achievement or chronic self-doubt. Rooted in the lived experiences of many Pakistanis, the session offers a compassionate look at how these invisible burdens take shape.

What sets this session apart is its focus on healing: introducing practical, evidence-based tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that participants can begin using right away.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Hira Chaudhry Yilmaz is a medical doctor and expert in psychological medicine, with international experience in trauma-informed care, suicide prevention and therapy. Holding degrees and advanced training from institutions like Yale, Johns Hopkins and the Royal College of General Practitioners, she has worked extensively across Pakistan and Malaysia.

She is the founder of Psychewell, a TEDx speaker and a published scholar whose work focuses on autism, maternal mental health, and culturally rooted emotional struggles. Her upcoming book, The Ache of Not Being Enough, explores generational trauma and inner healing in the South Asian context.
