The Soul of a Space: Designing with Time and Memory

The Soul of a Space: Designing with Time and Memory

Every space has a soul – shaped by memory, softened by time. Courtyards that once echoed with laughter, walls that still seem to listen, and cities that carry traces of our collective joy and sorrow – together they form an invisible archive of human experience.

This talk invites us to see design not as the creation of new structures, but as a dialogue with what already lives within space – the layers of history, memory, and feeling that shape how we inhabit the world. How does time seep into stone and silence? How do rivers, ruins, and streets remember? And how might design itself become an act of remembrance – not of what once was, but of what continues to live quietly within us?
