Since its inception in Greek religious ritual, tragedy has come a long way. The story of this genre reveals a great deal about European socio-political and religious milieu across the ages. In this talk, the tradition and transformation of tragedy is examined through various cultural and philosophical lenses.

Dr. Sheheryar Khan has been serving as an Assistant Professor of English in HED, Punjab for 18 years. His doctoral research project was a reading of Milan Kundera’s fiction using Slavoj Zizek’s Parallax view. His main interest are literary and cultural theory, philosophy and psychoanalysis.
