About the Initiative
At The Black Hole, our mission has always been to make science accessible, exciting, and meaningful. Over the years, we have successfully engaged school-level students and kids through hands-on activities, experiments, and interactive science sessions.
However, we also heard a consistent and important concern:
“What about university students who want to learn real science in depth?”
After months of discussion and effort, we are proud to introduce a free weekly lecture series on Astronomy and Astrophysics, specially designed to serve college and university students who want to go beyond popular science and develop a deeper conceptual understanding of the universe.
Why This Lecture Series?
This initiative exists because:
- Many university students expressed the need for serious, structured astronomy education.
- Formal astronomy courses are often unavailable or inaccessible.
- Passion for the universe should not be limited by finances.
Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Saeeda Sajjad, this lecture series is being offered completely free of cost.
Who Should Attend?
While everyone is welcome, this lecture series is highly recommended for:
- University and college students
- Students with a Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Science background
- Curious minds who are comfortable with equations, models, and logical reasoning
The sessions will involve:
- Mathematical reasoning (at an introductory level)
- Physical interpretation of astronomical phenomena
- Conceptual links between physics and the cosmos
⚠️ No one will be restricted from attending, but students without a math/science background may find some sessions challenging.
What Will Be Covered?
The lecture series will gradually build concepts, such as:
- Foundations of Astronomy and Astrophysics
- Life Cycle of Stars
- Stellar Astrophysics
- Galaxies and Other Astrophysical Objects
Lecture Schedule
- Each Sunday
- Starting from 18th January, 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
- Venue: The Black Hole
We intentionally chose Sunday to ensure that university students can attend without academic conflicts.
Instructor

Dr. Saeeda Sajjad is an astrophysicist whose work focuses on gamma-ray bursts and high energy observations. She holds a PhD from the University of Montpellier France and has many years of working as an academic. She was also the founding director of the Space and Astrophysics Research Lab, a platform dedicated to developing the field of astronomy and astrophysics in Pakistan, under the National Center for GIS and Space Applications. Currently, she is collaborating with scientists abroad on research with astrophysical data using machine learning techniques.
Registration (Recommended)
To help us manage the sessions better, we encourage students to register in advance using the Google Form below:
Registration is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged.
A Note from TheBlackHole
This lecture series represents our belief that quality science education should be free, open, and community-driven. We are deeply grateful to the Dr. Saeeda Sajjad and excited to build a learning space where curiosity meets rigor.
If you are a student who has ever looked at the night sky and wondered “I want to understand this properly” — this series is for you.
