Radar Theory: How Women Learn to Read Danger

Why do many women seem to be constantly alert to their surroundings, reading subtle cues, sensing shifts in behavior, and preparing for situations that others may not even notice? This talk explores what may be called “Radar Theory”, the hidden survival system many women develop while navigating social spaces shaped by uncertainty, risk, and unequal power dynamics.

Drawing on psychology, everyday experience, and social realities, the session will examine how this heightened awareness is formed, how it affects women’s decisions and interactions, and what it reveals about the environments we live in. The discussion will also reflect on the emotional and mental cost of always being on guard, and what a safer, more trusting society would require.

About the Speaker:

Nimra Falak is a lecturer, CSS mentor, and researcher whose work focuses on power dynamics, gendered behavior, and social psychology. She is the founder of Radar Theory, a conceptual framework that explores how persistent social threats shape women’s awareness, perception, and decision-making in everyday life. Her academic and mentoring work engages with questions of safety, identity and the psychological impact of living in unequal social environments.
